Cabot
STREAMLINING OPERATIONS IN THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
Oracle JD Edwards + ITCROSS Fiscal Solutions
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Cabot Corporation is an American specialty chemicals and performance materials company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. The company operates in over 20 countries with 36 manufacturing plants, eight research and development facilities and 28 sales offices.
1. The Challenge
- The company was facing a huge organizational change. As part of that transformation, it decided to roll-out with Oracle ERP to Mexico. Internal resources were not available, and they needed help from a partner with global knowledge and local expertise.
- Huge law/tax change in Mexico that year was an important challenge to sort out, as law was not clear enough, and Oracle timeline for the software update issued, so the company compliance was in risk.
- There were legal requirements in Mexico that JD Edwards’ official localization did not meet and needed to be addressed.
- Language barrier between headquarters and the Mexico subsidiary required effective communication.
2. Why ITCROSS
- Offered a Solution to comply with E-Invoice and other many legal requirements in Mexico, that avoided many hours of the project on understanding requirements and designing integrations and customizations. Their solution was Oracle Validated Integration, meaning Oracle certified it was developed applying Oracle development best practices and that it worked as described.
- Understood the consulting role in global implementations, working together with the global ERP team while supporting local users and solving the language barrier.
- Offered support after the rollout, and Fiscal solution updates in case of new law changes.
3. The Outcomes
- ITCROSS Fiscal Solution accelerated the implementation process and simplified interfaces with third-party software. Updates and support after implementation was received as stated on the contract.
- Successfully executed the JD Edwards rollout project in Mexico, 100% adapted to new legal requirements, solving cultural, language and communication gaps.
"Our challenge in Mexico was dealing with a localizations scenario that was changing due to new Mexican laws, and at the same time, an internal company change. ITCROSS helped us in both sides, as localization experts, but also with a key role as an intermediate between Mexico Branch and the Global ERP Team”.
